The hotel was designed by Alexander Vallaury, a French-Ottoman architect often called “the City Architect” of Istanbul. Located in the historic area of Pera, also known as Beyoglu, hotel opened its doors in 1895 and was immediately recognized as one of the outstanding buildings of Istanbul. After an extensive restoration, the hotel reopened in September 2010 and soon joined the Jumeirah Hotels & Resorts portfolio, a collection of luxurious, award-winning hotels.
