Boutique or lifestyle hotels have become homogenous; all offering social spaces; free WiFi connectivity; and so-called off-the-wall design and F&B concepts in a bid to attract ‘on-the-go’ tech-savvy Millennials. Add to the mix the rise of airbnb and similar peer-to-peer travel products and services, which promise unique and authentic accommodation experiences, and the need to reinvent the lifestyle hotel concept is ever more pressing. Our panel of experts discuss reinvention strategies, and examples of hotels brands that are re-imagining the boutique concept well. They also discuss what hotels can learn from sites like airbnb, onefinestay, etc, particularly in the way they define and market their brands.
