From Experiential to Transformative Travel

Wellness travel is now mainstream and an increasingly competitive and creative market. In today’s world, all travelers care deeply about their wellness. So, understanding the shifting wellness travel landscape is an absolute must in order to truly understand travel in general, and the future in particular.

The Global Wellness Institute (GWI) has the most up-to-date research about travel, spa and wellness – and we’re once again pleased to partner with ATM and share the industry’s latest data and most eye-opening new trends. Wellness travel will continue to grow at an extraordinary annual pace – 7.5% a year through 2020 – more than twice as fast as tourism overall. This symposium is designed to give you bankable predictions for the future, as we share the top wellness travel trends for 2018 and beyond. We will explore a major shift underway from “experiential” to “transformative” wellness travel: what that means, the diverse aspects of the trend, and how travelers now seek (and destinations are innovating) life-changing journeys versus disconnected itineraries, programs, classes and treatments. We will also look at how the future of wellness and spa will be as much about engaging people’s emotions as healing practices. And in the spirit of the topic, we will incorporate several experiences in the showcase that will engage the audience’s various senses.
