Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi) has hosted 50 leading Gulf-based tour operators and travel professionals on the emirate’s biggest ever GCC familiarization trip.
TCA joined with new stakeholders to show the group – all of whom were first-time visitors to the UAE – Abu Dhabi’s potential as a first-class destination for meetings, business and leisure.
TCA Abu Dhabi Director of Promotions & Overseas Offices, Mubarak Al Nuaimi, said: “We have seen some good hotel guest numbers from the GCC in the first eight months of this year, with across-the-board increases, yet we are far from where we want to be and we know we have all the right ingredients to be front of mind for GCC travellers.
“We are a safe and affordable destination and also easily accessible from the air, land and sea. We are competitive, with some of the best room rates of the regional markets and we are continuously expanding and enhancing the visitor experience.”
TCA Abu Dhabi said an invigorated focus on regional travellers, coupled with a broadening shopping, leisure, attraction and events programme, would generate increased interest from the GCC market.
Nuaimi added: “We know the potential is there and we are working very hard to capture our share. Yas Island’s continuing evolution as a leading entertainment and lifestyle destination - plus our huge diversity of hotels, apartments and resorts, from desert to sea to city, that are both affordable and cater to every demand, as well as more cultural and entertainment attractions - put us in a strong position.”
